Today is International Women’s Day – a day to celebrate women’s achievements throughout history.
It is also an occasion to consider what still must be done to improve the lives and opportunities of women.
Women play an integral role in our lives. Whether we recognize them as mothers, sisters, wives, coworkers or bosses, women have earned the right to be empowered.
Any society striving to flourish must begin by promoting its women for same rights that men already enjoy. Equality is our goal.
The Martin Charlton team is led by a strong woman who provides guidance and instills confidence. On International Women’s Day we support the women in our office much like we do the others in this country.
Research indicates that nations that invest in women’s employment, health and education tend to have greater economic growth and improved health and education for children.
This year’s official United Nations theme for this special day is ‘Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change’.
The United Nations began celebrating International Women’s Day in 1975.
Today, International Women’s Day takes on various forms – some countries recognize it is a public holiday, while it is a day of protest in others.
Thankfully, this is a global day of recognition of women’s achievements and an opportunity to support women’s rights and advance gender equality.
