We’re about to begin the greatest thinking period in Saskatchewan’s year. Harvest.
In a digital age where information is free flowing: sometimes accurate, sometimes fake, it is often hard for most of us – but leaders especially – to find the time to so do what they’re paid to do….LEAD.
Lost in all this information is time for leaders to think. They are, after all, the captains of their ships, expected to be able to chart a course and to execute that plan. But too often in today’s world leaders find themselves reacting to the events of the day with little time for charting a course let alone navigating it.
For those who bogged down in information overload, a wonderful role model to consider is the grain farmer. In the coming weeks as they begin the annual harvest they will devote countless hours to a combine, time that can be doubly useful for thinking, imaging, day dreaming. This province has produced more innovative farm machines, processes and concepts than anywhere in the world….no doubt having time to think about a problem and its solution are one of the reasons for that success.
